The United States has a large stockpile of SF6 gas. From an environmental perspective, reconditioning gas could lower the carbon footprint by removing the need to manufacture new product. Sulfur hexafluoride is 100 percent recyclable, and there is no chemical difference between virgin SF6 gas and certified reconditioned SF6gas.
